Cinema in Jazz, a repeatedly sold-out event, returns on October 1 with a new programme and even more sparkle.
It is an exciting meeting point between two art forms shaped by emotion, innovation and history — jazz and cinema. The project explores the way film music has embraced and refracted the spirit of jazz, transforming familiar melodies into something fresh, expressive and truly distinctive.
From the earliest sound films to grand musicals, jazz has left its unmistakable mark on the atmosphere, rhythm and storytelling of the silver screen. The programme brings film classics into a new light through jazz arrangements that give them a new colour and an unexpected glow.
With each new edition, Cinema in Jazz expands its repertoire with new works, arrangements and musical surprises. This time, the audience will hear jazz-infused versions of Arabian Nights and One Jump Ahead from Aladdin, Something Stupid, A Night in Tunisia, I Get a Kick Out of You, Nature Boy, City of Stars, as well as Poor Unfortunate Souls and Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid, alongside other beloved themes and original compositions.
Now a fully realised spectacle, Cinema in Jazz brings together music, imagery and theatricality, transforming the stage into a space where cinema comes alive.
The voices of this jazz-and-cinema story are Valeria Vassilenko and Boyan Todorov, joined by Iliya Lazarov on piano, Kristian Petrov on double bass, Kaloyan Pramatarov on drums and Alex Vitkov on trumpet.
