Elegance. Detail. Aesthetics.
This is perhaps the best way to describe Smooth Experience – the project led by jazz pianist and composer Vassil Spassov, returning to the In The Mood stage with a completely renewed repertoire.
Following their successful debut at the club in 2024 and a remarkable performance in Berlin, where the trio won over audiences and earned critical acclaim, Smooth Experience will once again immerse listeners in its sophisticated musical world. On 30 September, the group will present a rich sound, fresh ideas and music in which virtuosity and emotion come together in perfect harmony.
Joining Vassil Spassov on stage are his long-standing musical partners – bassist Radoslav Slavchev (Riverman) and drummer Borislav Petrov. Together, they create a subtle yet compelling musical atmosphere, shaped by spontaneous interaction, meticulous attention to detail and the distinctive voice of each musician.
Inspired by their success in the German capital, the musicians are currently working on new original compositions and preparing an album that will bring together both pieces from their existing repertoire and previously unheard works. Its release is expected by the end of next year, while the audience at In The Mood will have the opportunity to experience some of the new music live before its official release.
As Prof. Claire Levy notes: “Vassil Spassov is undoubtedly a true maestro in the field of contemporary jazz…”
Created for admirers of refined sound and the aesthetics of smooth jazz, the project is steadily establishing its own distinct artistic identity. Following Berlin, Smooth Experience returns to the intimate atmosphere of In The Mood, bringing the energy of the larger stage into the immediate connection between musicians and audience.
The trio continues to demonstrate that the Bulgarian jazz tradition has not only a rich history but also a bright future. With new recording sessions ahead, fresh compositions and their return to the club, Smooth Experience is entering the next chapter of its development – with music poised to reach an even wider audience in Bulgaria and around the world.
